Affordable laminate stairs in Knoxville

Laminate stairs deliver a hardwood look at a gentler price on the busiest surface in your house. Volunteer Flooring & Design installs laminate stair systems with matching nosings, risers, and trim that connect the staircase to the floor it serves.

The tough wear layer makes laminate a good choice for rentals, second homes, basement stairs, and houses with kids or dogs.

Choosing laminate for stairs

Choosing laminate for stairs

Not every laminate plank belongs on stairs. We use rated, sturdy products, because a weak surface shows wear at the nosing quickly.

  • Heavier-duty wear ratings only
  • Thicker planks where possible
  • Matching nosings included
  • Padding to reduce noise on each step
How we install laminate stairs

How we install laminate stairs

On stairs, laminate has to be glued and mechanically fastened rather than floated. We use adhesive plus hidden fasteners behind the nosing, secure the riser pieces, and finish with matching caulk so gaps do not show. For other stair surfaces, compare hardwood stairs and vinyl stairs.
