Our Story
Most flooring companies are built around volume. Get the job, collect the check and move on — that’s how it works, right? Nicholas Laskowski and Reid Zuchowski built Volunteer Flooring & Design on the belief that Knoxville homeowners and builders deserve better than what they were getting.
Nicholas and Reid have deep roots in flooring across installation, construction and retail. They know what can go wrong in the industry because they’ve seen it firsthand. Sloppy installs nobody stands behind. Crews that treat your home like a job site and leave it that way. Companies that promise one thing and deliver another.
Volunteer Flooring & Design is the answer to all those problems. From day one we’ve been following the same standard: use quality materials, put our own crews on every job, charge a fair price and fix it if it’s not right. No subcontractors. No excuses. No disappearing act after the invoice clears.
Today we serve homeowners, builders, designers, commercial clients throughout Knoxville, Farragut, Maryville, Oak Ride, Sevierville, Lenoir City and surrounding areas with jobs ranging from single-room updates to full commercial installs. That standard hasn’t changed.

Our Team
Nicholas Laskowski
Nicholas grew up in the flooring industry. As a second-generation flooring professional, he learned the trade from ground up from material selection to hands-on installation. That has become the backbone of how he runs Volunteer Flooring & Design. High standards, no shortcuts and a genuine commitment to getting it right are part of every job whether it’s a single-room residential update or a large commercial project.
Reid Zuchowski
Over the years, Reid has built his career around doing quality work and standing behind it. As co-owner of Volunteer Flooring & Design, he brings a contractor’s eye for detail and business owner’s sense of accountability to every project. Reid is straightforward with his standards. If it’s not installed right, it’s not done. Outside of work, he brings that same precision to building and restoring cars and competing at racetracks across the Southeast.
Jason McDaniel
Jason McDaniel is a business owner and real estate investor with a track record of building and scaling ventures across multiple markets. As a partner at Volunteer Flooring & Design, he brings strategic business experience and a sharp eye for opportunity. Jason is the co-founder of Knoxville’s Best Real Estate Investor Group where he helps others navigate the world of real estate investing.
Richard Gamble
Richard Gamble is a multi-state real estate investor and business owner who has spent his career building ventures that create lasting value. As a partner at Volunteer Flooring & Design, he brings the same disciplined, results-focused approach to the flooring business. Richard is also co-founder of Knoxville’s Best Real Estate Investor Group and a dedicated mentor to others pursuing financial independence.
Jon Cox
Jon Cox has been helping homeowners, builders and designers find the right flooring for their projects for over 15 years. He understands the products and installation process so he can give people straight answers without pushing you toward whatever has the best margin. If you’re wondering where to start, Jon is usually the first call. Outside of work, he’s a dad of three, a Tennessee Vols fan and spends his spare time creating custom engraved art and decorative pieces.
Nancy Liston
Nancy keeps day-to-day operations at Volunteer Flooring & Design on track. Detail-oriented and highly organized, she makes sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so the rest of the team can focus on doing good work. Outside of the office, Nancy enjoys restoring old houses, hikes and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
Justin Koehler
Justin has been working with wood and flooring for his entire career. As a lifelong carpenter and installer, he brings hands-on experience and genuine passion for craftsmanship to his quality control role at Volunteer Flooring & Design. His job is to make sure everything meets the standard and he takes that seriously. When he’s not on the job, Justin is in the mountains, spending time with his animals or out on a four wheeler.
Allen Cooper
Allen handles the logistics side of Volunteer Flooring & Design. He manages product movement from the warehouse to the showroom and makes sure the facility stays in top shape. He’s known by the team for his easygoing approach and problem-solving attitude that keeps things moving. Outside of work, Allen is an outdoorsman with a love for hunting and nature.
Sarah Huggins
Sarah helps homeowners and builders find the right flooring for their space and their budget. She embodies the honest, no-pressure approach that defines how Volunteer Flooring & Design operates. She asks the right questions and points people toward options that fit their home and their life.

Every install is done by our in-house crew — not subcontractors hired for the day who have no stake in the outcome. That means you get consistent quality, real accountability and someone to call if anything goes wrong after the job is done.
We don’t operate the same way as a big box store. You won’t get a different person every time you call, a weeks-long wait for someone to show up or a quote that looks nothing like the final bill. We’re a local business that operates like one. You’ll always get straightforward communication, honest pricing and people who stand behind what they install.
